Expansion Pack Royalty and Legacy The Sims 4 Rated Badly by Players

The Sims 4 Royalties and Inheritance – Royalty and Legacy is the newest expansion pack for The Sims 4 which was released on February 12. After more than two weeks of release, many players admitted that they were not satisfied with this DLC because they felt it was immature and too rushed.

When it was first announced in mid-January, many fans greeted it enthusiastically because of the new features in the Royalty & Legacy expansion. However, the final result apparently did not meet all players’ expectations. Some fans have begun to highlight various shortcomings of The Sims 4’s Royalty & Legacy expansion, including simple errors that should have been detected before release.

As shared by user ApplicationOdd6600 on Reddit, he mentioned several small things that the developers should have fixed before release. For example, the carpet icon does not appear in the preview while in build mode. The color choice of the carpet also looks misaligned, the edge of the carpet even appears to be missing on one of the short sides.

“I just spent 2 hours checking Cap Mansion, and to be honest, it’s really bad. One room can have 3 chandeliers at once. The colors look pale and washed out, and the swatches are also incomplete. There is one carpet whose swatch preview is actually empty, just blank. There’s even one tile whose swatches are also incomplete.

I also can’t understand why there are no “Royals” or “Dynasty Ruler” aspirations. “I’m quite disappointed with this purchase.”

Some players also feel that they don’t match the color palette that is the basis of The Sims 4 DLC. Many of the new parts and patterns in Build Mode are locked to one specific color scheme. For example, many door and window options are only available in beige, while a new variety of interlocking wall tiles only comes in a blue-and-white motif. Fans even felt that the Castle Estate kit, which was released two years ago at a lower price, had a much wider variety of variants than expansion pack this one is more expensive.

Not only in build mode, but the gameplay as a whole makes players disappointed. In this expansion there is only one new Aspiration, namely Social Puppeteer. This aspiration is of the “Deviant” type (tends to be evil/mischievous), with goals such as causing scandals, blackmailing other Sims, and using their secrets for personal gain.

In fact, if there is a new expansion, developers usually present two types of Aspiration: one good aspiration which usually focuses on helping people and one evil aspiration which often does naughty things.

And ironically, F2P players can actually get a second Deviant aspiration called Master of Grudges through the Lost Legacies event which was released together with this pack. So, it seems a bit strange because expensive paid expansions only give one new aspiration (that too, the evil type), while players who don’t buy the DLC can also get a similar new aspiration through a free event.

Some suspect that this is the impact of EA’s $55 billion acquisition announced last September, which made Electronic Arts a private company and owned by several investment groups in Saudi Arabia. This announcement shocked many fans and many popular content creators stepped back, fearing that Maxis would lose their creative freedom.
