IMPROVED MACHINE SHIPS ON THE NEW SDK NAVIGATION (ANDROID + IOS) | by mapbox

By: Antonio Zugaldia

Our latest navigation SDK (v1.0 Android + iOS) sends with an upgraded location to guide a better driver in a dense urban environment with poor GPS signals and through complex maneuvers that traditionally make guidance confusing – such as sharp turns, narrow exit, and adjacent parallel road. This new location engine continues to filter and process GPS signals and even extrapolate the current driver location when the GPS signal is not available using a dead count algorithm, to avoid navigation disorders. This provides high position accuracy, with low latency, so that the driver’s location on the map remains in harmony with the actual location of the vehicle. Download SDK navigation and see updated documentation (Android + iOS).

This increase can be measured; Drivers who use new SDK experience, a higher percentage of trips without a route. As a result of increasing precision accuracy in a new location engine, the driver reduces the chance of delay because of the unclear direction, and arrives on time for more shipping and pickups.

3D map for the proper building of the building: This latest SDK shows the right destination building that is highlighted at the time of arrival, helping the driver makes more delivery on time and spend less time looking for the right building.

Camera Control: SDK navigation provides a different camera listener to determine whether the camera movement is caused by user movements, default fire animations, or controlled developers to change the driver’s point of view on the map. The camera can be tilted, rotated, enlarged, and/or transferred with movements on the screen such as pinching or with pre-written codes, especially the Cameposition class consisting of camera targets, angles, zooms, tilt, and padding.

iOS14 Carplay: Carplay is supported in SDK Navigation for iOS. This means that any application that uses SDK navigation can be connected directly to the carplay activated car infotainment screen.

Studio map designed for drivers: In addition to the highlight of the purpose of the driver, the developer can design a special map force that combines satellites, streets, and building footprints. This better Orient driver for the last 100 meters of their delivery to maintain an accurate eta.

For example, this turn-by-turn vector map smoothly to the satellite image when you enlarge.

Our drivers and drivers demanded appropriate location and eta information in a dense city environment such as Singapore, and SDK v1.0 navigation, with an upgraded location, very suitable for our needs. New features to adjust the user’s experience for our drivers, especially the preparation of the spotlight, will allow us to distinguish our products and improve our business metrics. – Paras Koratiya, Product Technical Leader, Ryde technology

Free-drive mode: Drivers who are familiar with the route do not always require direction but do need to see the traffic conditions and POI nearby. The new SDK has a “free drive mode” where the location indicator (Puck) always matches the map to the current driver location and the map remains centered even if the driver does not have an active turn for the turn of the navigation session.

Traffic: The level of traffic congestion can be arranged to show unknown, low, medium, severe and severe traffic conditions. The lines can be arranged independently by charging traffic and edges before and after the location indicator. With a special line-line style and accurate indications of traffic jams along the route, the driver can measure the condition of the traffic that applies with a simple view.

Traffic updates in real-time details are almost 2.3 billion segments worldwide. Active 650 million monthly users who touch our map created a data feedback cycle. Our AI-powered data pipelines processes +300 million miles from driving data that are notonmed, areonymous, and filtered privacy, direct road telemetry data allowing mapbox to continue to update traffic on maps everywhere in the world.

Customization of Location Indicators: Location indicators (Puck) in SDK navigation can be adjusted based on the state of navigation, such as off-rute, poor signal or arrival. For example, the delivery application can choose to highlight the location of the location when the driver goes to the route to attract their attention back to the planned route.

Price: Like all API and SDK Mapbox, SDK navigation is available for developers on Pay-As-You-Go-Go-no commitment needed. To enable the fleet to harmonize costs to each driver, SDK has a want -based billing (monthly active user), which includes all directions and requests for API maps, combined into a consistent driver price. Developers who want to use fire -based billing directions can still do it by contacting API directly from their application.
